EVERY YEAR a number of passionate runners tramp across THE desert running more than a marathon everyday. at the end of THE line is a music FESTIVAL like no other. WELCOME to THE BIG RED BASH.
24 hours each way on the bus, sleeping in a tent in temperatures nor far off zero, no showers and dust, dust, dust…not things that i would usually seek as a photographer. But this is an experience with a difference. Leaving all life’s luxuries behind there is time to appreciate the music and the amazing atmosphere created by people coming for (really) far and wide.
3,000 plus campers made it to the 2015 Birdsville Big Red Bash to catch performers of the likes of Diesel, Jimmy Barnes and Jon Stevens. Yes they played great gigs and didnt take the event lightly but it has to be said the event is much more about the experience and the feeling you get from standing in such a spiritual place.
One of the best things about the event is the connection the Big Red Bash have with the traditional owners of the land. It is a partnership and they are invited to speak about the importance of the land on which we stand (and rock).
The cold, the dust and the hygiene all worth it.Full gallery available here
